2. Planning and Preparation

Planning

  1. Knowledge gaining: Students will gain knowledge in a few ways. First, students will visit a website introducing the 3 early Southwest Indian tribes. Then, the students will visit informational websites to gather further information about one tribe based on the group they are in. Then, students will come together in their groups to revoice what they have learned and organize their information.
  2. Knowledge organizing: The students will work in groups to organize information about the one tribe their group is assigned. The group will fill out a graphic organizer on Google Doc with information they find about their assigned tribe by answering questions such as where and when they lived, what they ate, what they made, what they were well known for, etc.
  3. Knowledge sharing: First, each group will create a Wiki page for their assigned tribe on the early Southwest Indian tribes Wiki. Then, they will create a Wordle for their tribe and they will post the Wordle as the opening title for their page. In the Wiki, the group will share their research findings about their tribe by answering some questions about their tribe and posting pictures to go along with each question. Since all three Wiki pages will reside within one Wiki, all students will have access to the information for all 3 tribes.

Preparation
  1. The teacher will have to create worksheet using Google Doc for each of the early Southwest Indian tribes so the students in each group can fill in the information they find about the tribe assigned to them.
  2. The teacher will have to create a Wiki on Wikispaces for the early Southwest Indian tribes that has one page for each of the three tribes, and allow access to all students.
  3. Teacher and students will have to set up a Twitter account and give access to all students so they can "tweet" questions.
